Maritime Perspectives
Saturday 3 September 2022
11am - 5pm, Lighthouse, Poole
Poole for the Maritime Perspectives (and Bournemouth for the Air Festival )
On Saturday 3 September, Poole Rotary, in conjunction Lighthouse Poole, offers an intriguing selection of Maritime Perspectives on Poole - past, present and future at the Lighthouse, between 11am and 5pm.
The day is based on the very successful "Pirates, Castaways & Codfish" events held at Scaplen's Court in 2019 and 2021, with something for the whole family. Entrance to the event is free (donations welcome). Tickets for the historic play must be purchased in advance from Lighthouse Poole.
Poole has a rich maritime history, soon to be re-imagined in a refurbished Poole Museum. With the second largest natural harbour in the world it is a mecca for water sports enthusiasts. It boasts several international headquarters, including the RNLI. Preservation of nature's delicate balances remain a constant challenge as the pressures on the harbour and sea increase. Activities throughout the day highlight a range of perspectives surrounding Poole's maritime setting.
